The Sanctuary at Parrot Cay

  • The Sanctuary at Parrot Cay in Turks & Caicos is so private and secluded that it maintains a space separate from the main resort, which is itself known for its serious isolation. Suffice to say, for clients looking to be pampered in a highly private environment, The Sanctuary fits the bill.

The Sanctuary’s living room features design choices by the villa’s owner, famed clothier Donna Karan.

This beach property is made up of two houses, each with four bedrooms rented as one unit. The "wow" factor here? Try two personal butlers and a personal chef. If that's not enough, the villa has a private beachfront, its own infinity pool and, from the master bedroom on the second floor, a 360-degree view of the island.

The Pool is isolated from the rest of the resort.

Guests may also be surprised to learn that they'll be renting the villa from a rather well-known clothier. Donna Karan of DKNY fame is the villa's owner and designed it with help from Cheong Yew Kuan and Bonnetti Kozerski. The interior design reflects Karan's eclectic travels around the world and many of the items she has purchased along the way play figurative roles. Think Balinese furniture, including deep-seated pillowed sofas and white-pillowed beach furniture. Candles abound.

Our favorite part about The Sanctuary is its clever use of sunlight. Almost every room is surrounded by glass paneling, which allows light to stream in. That's not all; the design really gives a sense of location. Guests will be able to gaze out onto the ocean and the abundance of greenery that lines the villa's perimeter.

Security is tight at Parrot Cay. Personnel are stationed throughout the island and carry out regular nightly sweeps. Note: The resort can arrange for private security to be posted at the villa.

If guests decide to venture outside The Sanctuary for an evening, they can dine at the poolside restaurant, Lotus, which focuses on Thai and Japanese dishes or the Terrace restaurant, for modern Mediterranean specialties. Tip: Lobster is available between August and March, during which period Parrot Cay offers lobster feasts.
