Spa Time: The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Las Vegas

Food and relaxation time is booked into every spa experience at Mandarin Oriental.

Luxe spas are becoming as de rigueur in Vegas as the casinos, but we think The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Las Vegas may very well take the cake. The 17-room spa takes up the entire seventh and eighth floors of the hotel, giving guests plenty of room to sprawl out, relax and escape the busy city below.

In the seven Couples Suites (with adorable names like Bamboo, Chrysanthemum, Orchid and Plum), duos can enjoy private steam showers. In The Green, Red and White Dragon Suites (honestly, we couldn’t make up these names!), two private steam showers and personal soaking tubs let guests forget they’re in the desert. Each has two treatment tables, personal wardrobes and vanity areas. And, of course, since a rushed spa visit completely defeats its purpose, relaxation time is scheduled into each experience. Tasty Treat: Every session wraps up with a spa refreshment.

Reportedly developed by specialists in traditional Chinese medicine and master aromatherapists, each signature therapy at the spa consists of a relaxing, hands-on body massage ritual that combines the powerful effects of Oriental meridian massage with custom-blended essential oils, which are created uniquely for Mandarin Oriental. Personalized Touch: Each treatment begins with a private therapist consultation to determine each individual’s personal needs and current state of well-being. The treatment and oils are then tailored to meet each guest’s needs. They also get nutritional and exercise guidance to take home.

While Vegas has a reputation for impromptu weddings, anyone actually planning a bridal party should definitely book some time in the spa. Guys and gals alike can book interactive yoga, tea ceremonies, dream analysis sessions or spend time in the Spa’s co-ed Hammam. For girlfriend getaways or bridal showers, ladies should check out the Turkish-tiled Rhassoul, where guests are covered in clay and exposed to both dry and wet heat to release toxins and nourish the skin. To soothe pre-wedding jitters, brides- and grooms-to-be can indulge in simultaneous treatments in the couples’ suites and visit the salon to look their best for the big day.

Note: Adults, 18 or older, can access the Spa and Fitness Center. Those under 18 can visit the pool area but must be accompanied by an adult.

Since the spa takes up two whole floors of the hotel, it is easily accessible from any of the property’s 392 rooms.

Naturally, the hotel’s suites are the most in-demand accommodations. The Apex Suite and Dynasty are very popular, but if you wish to go über-luxe, then book into any of the three Presidential Suites—the Taipan, Emperor and Mandarin. For families, the Apex Suite and Presidential Suites all have connecting bedrooms, and for those wanting an extra-luxe experience, the hotel can arrange private butler service in any room category (at $80 per hour for a minimum of four hours).

Note: Butler service is complimentary in Presidential Suites. For the best views, book the Mandarin Executive room, Mandarin Premier room, Executive Suite, Apex Suite, Dynasty Suite or any of the Presidential Suites.

Gourmands will also be in luck: On the 23rd floor, Twist by Pierre Gagnaire is the first U.S. restaurant by the three-star Michelin chef, featuring classic and post-modern French cuisine. (It’s also the hotel’s signature restaurant.) For haute Asian cuisine (and some American classics), MOzen Bistro is an all-day contemporary kitchen theater with a sushi bar, noodle bar and rotisserie.
